Charles 'Chuck' L. Klausing's Obituary

Charles L. "Chuck" Klausing, 92, of Indiana, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at St. Andrew's Village, White Township.

He was born in 1925 in Wilmerding to Charles H. and Alma Eckberg Klausing.

Mr. Klausing was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish, Indiana, where he was a member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Football Hall of Fame.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Slippery Rock University and his master's in education at the University of Pittsburgh.

Chuck was a teacher and coach, having worked for 46 years at Pitcairn High School, Braddock High School, Rutgers University, United States Military Academy at West Point, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, West Virginia University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh and the Kiski School.

Surviving are four children, Patricia Klausing Simmons and husband William, Indiana; Marylou Klausing Billings and husband Royce, State College;; Thomas Klausing and wife Kathleen, North Potomac, Md.; and Kathleen Klausing Kilheeney and husband Thomas, Arlington, Texas; son-in-law, Scott Marshall, Morgantown, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren: Julie Krol, Jeffrey Simmons, Brandon Billings, Conner Billings, Kimberly Klausing, Kaitlin Klausing, Kelsey Klausing, Thomas Kilheeney III, Kristen Kilheeney, Carrie Hinerman, Scott Marshall, Christopher Marshall; nine great-grandchildren: Madison, Megan, and Allie Krol; Hayden and Lucas Simmons; Eliana and Andrew Billings; Asher Marshall; and Trevor Hinerman; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Joann Wit Klausing, his daughter Nancy Klausing Marshall, and his sister Dorothy Klausing Bendall.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More University Parish, Indiana. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Graveside military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #1989 and U.S. Marine Corps.
