Charles J. Hegland's Obituary

Charles John Hegland, 62, of Indiana, passed away June 13, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born in 1953 to Charles L. and Ruth (Elko) Hegland in Pittsburgh. Chuck attended the Indiana Alliance Church. He was a graduate of IUP. Chuck was an agent for Nationwide Insurance for over 30 years. Chuck was involved with the Boy Scouts for 14 years. He was a problem solver and a handyman. Chuck enjoyed gardening, outside building projects, attending auctions, cooking, and helping others. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Colleen (McNutt) Hegland, Indiana; two daughters and a son - Erica Parks and husband Brian, Indiana; Janelle Hegland, Indiana; C. Thane Hegland, Indiana; four grandchildren - Kaiya, Korpo, Kaeden, and Kobi Parks; and a sister - LaVonne Shields and husband Edward, North Huntingdon; mother-in-law - Eleanor McNutt, Plum Boro. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, and also on Wednesday at the Indiana Alliance Church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jon Martin officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Seeds of Faith Scholarship Fund, 640 Church Street, Indiana, PA 15701, or Boy Scout Troop 29, Indiana, in care of Ivan Querry.
