Catherine Bartoloma D'Amico's Obituary

Catherine Bartoloma D'Amico died peacefully October 9th surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. Her family recently celebrated her 90th birthday milestone as she was born May 2, 1934, in Hastings Pennsylvania to Florence (Lewis) and Victor Bartoloma. She grew up in Youngstown Ohio and was a graduate of Youngstown University, pledging Phi Mu Sorority, with an elementary education degree. This is where she met and married Alfred D'Amico for a 46-year loving marriage. With her degree, she went on to teach K-2nd grades in Youngstown and then Franklin and Indiana, PA. She left education for motherhood but kept using her love of teaching and became a Cub Scout, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, taught Sunday School and was PTA president. After moving to Indiana, she and Al entered the restaurant business as owner/operators of Bruno's Restaurant where they spent 20 years working together.

She was enthusiastic and active in the Indiana community in Quota Club, Rotary, Indiana Ballroom Dance Club, Downtown Indiana and New Century Club. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Graystone Presbyterian and Calvary Presbyterian Church serving as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher as well as many committees. She enjoyed her women's bible studies and the many close friendships that grew from these times together.

"Cate" enjoyed reading her favorite author Mary Higgins Clark, shopping, decorating and spending time at camp at Chautauqua Lake. She was an avid dog lover and was happiest spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Susan Stamler and Bruce (Samantha) D'Amico and two grandchildren, Chris Stamler and Bryan (Jaidyn) Stamler. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Family and friends will be received from 10am until noon Wednesday, October 16 at Calvary Presbyterian Church with a service following at noon by Reverend David Hanna. Donations may be made in Cate's honor to Four Footed Friends in Indiana or a charity of the donor's choice.
