Obituary

Catherine Gates Chronosky, age 77, of Indiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was born in 1934 in Nanty Glo, to Harry and Mary Zappia-Kapeluch Gates. Mrs. Chronosky was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kent. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and had also worked for Campus Sportswear for 15 years, Season-ALL for 23 years, and for the Indiana Gazette. Catherine was a strong, hardworking, loving and devoted mother. She enjoyed playing Bingo and the lotto, taking trips to West Virginia with her sisters and visiting her daughter in Georgia. She would look forward to having her entire family over on Sunday where she would cook huge delicious meals. She had been recovering at home from a major surgery. She was extremely courageous and fought until the end. She was our Angel on Earth and will be greatly missed by her surviving family of one son and two daughters, Jeff and wife Marcie (Vislosky), Indiana; Joyce Ann Santavicca and husband Dr. Gary Santavicca, Marietta, GA; Jennifer Chronosky, Indiana; two sisters, Betty Capitosti and husband Jim, Dorothy Novak and husband Chuck, both of Homer City; her brother-in-law Rudy Gaston, Blairsville; her nephew Robert Gates who was more like a son to her, Blairsville; eight grandchildren, Missy Ditmore and husband Roger, Mindy Harper and husband Jason, Jeff Chronosky, Jr and Kristy Forberger, Marianne Streams and husband Matt, Melanie Chronosky and Ryan Parker, Rachel Chronosky, Stefan and Matteo Santavicca; four great grandchildren, Cole and Casey Harper, Blaine Chronosky, and Jackson Streams. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Herman "Happy" Chronosky, by her infant son Herman Harry Chronosky, by two sisters Shirley Gaston and Mary Louise Gates. Friends and family will be received on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. Friends and family will also be received on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Fr. Charles Esposito the celebrant. Interment will be made in the St. Bernard Cemetery.
