Obituary

Carl Reed Stake, age 85, of Indiana, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Providence Park Hospital, Novi, MI. He was born in 1926 in Cherryhill Twp., to John and Effie (Ellenberger) Stake. Mr. Stake was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and the VFW Post #1989. A veteran of WW II, he served in the US Army. He was last employed by McCreary Industrial Products in the maintenance department. Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Stake is survived by his wife C. Lucille Stake, whom he married Nov. 11, 1948; one son and one daughter, Darl Stake and wife Libby, Nowrytown; Carol Galonis, Northville, MI; five grandchildren, Catherine Jones and husband Michael, Northville, MI; Frank Galonis, Lapeer, MI; Rebecca Galonis, Wyandotte, MI; Connie Gizzi and husband Ronald, Nowrytown; D. Wayne Durand, New Market, MD; seven great grandchildren, Craig, Cory, and Brianna Clawson, Hannah and Mikey Jones, Joanna Galonis, Julie Knapp. He is also survived by one brother and one sister, Erma Bailey, Latrobe; Blaine Stake, Indiana; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by six brothers and sisters, Earl, Betty, and Merle Stake, June Ray, Violet Bowman, and Silvia Stewart. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M. with theRev. Greg Golden officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. The VFW Post #1989 will provide graveside military honors.
