Calvin V. Frantz's Obituary

Calvin Vay Frantz, age 74 of Shelocta, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at his residence.

He was born in 1944 in Clymer to Louis and Olive Helman Frantz. He married his childhood sweetheart Ethel "Nonie" Wynona Cocolin on June 26, 1965.

Calvin joined the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and served as a Corporal and taught amphibian and track vehicle repair.

He was employed by the Keystone Generation Power plant in Shelocta for over 43 years serving different positions and retiring as an electrician.

Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with his great grandsons and riding his Harley Trike. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling the world with his lovely bride. He was an advocate for special needs children and his grandson Hunter. He loved watching his grandson CJ play golf and talking military with his grandson Zack who is currently in the US Army National Guard.

Surviving are his wife Nonie, Shelocta; two children - Kevin Frantz and wife Annette, Indiana; Kimberly Hughes and husband Billy, Indiana; three grandsons - Zack and girlfriend Kristen, Hunter and CJ; one granddaughter Shelly; two great grandchildren - Preston and Jensen; one sister Martha Rosenberg and husband Rick, Salem, OH; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Terry David officiating. Interment will be made in the Elderton Cemetery.
