Bradford C. Becker-George's Obituary

Bradford C. Becker-George, age 66, of Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital. He was born in 1948 in Fargo, ND and raised in Laramie, WY. Brad was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Paralyzed Veterans of America, and a former member of the American Legion, Laural, MD. Brad served four years in the US Army while stationed in Turkey and Germany. He then enlisted in the US Navy and was a Communications Technician/Russian, and retired as a Petty Officer 2nd Class due to a disability. While in the Navy, he served as a submariner, including missions under the polar icecap. Following his military retirement, he graduated from University of Baltimore with a degree in accounting, and returned to employment with the Dept. of Defense. While residing in Laural, MD, he was active in city government, as well as Scouting and the Laurel Boys and Girls Club. He was an avid baseball fan as well as Washington Capitals and Washington Redskins. After moving to Indiana, he became a Steelers and Penguins fan. Brad loved life and laughter and would like people to celebrate life and not mourn his passing. Brad is survived by his wife - Edith Cheryl Becker-George, Indiana; three children - Sarah Anne Becker-George, Indiana; Benjamin F. Becker-George and wife Lindsay, Elmira, NY; Matthew R. Becker-George and wife Brittany, Indiana; nine grandchildren - Kaylee, Dustin, Matthew Michael, Zachary, Benjamin, Anthony, Lorraine, Lylah, and Robbie, Jr.; as well as numerous foster children; and his parents - Dr. Clarence F. Becker and Irene H. Sad Becker, Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother Rodney Richard Becker. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A Memorial service and inurnment with Military Honors will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Disabled American Veterans.
