Obituary

Bernice J. Fleming, age 88, of Shelocta, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in 1924 in Armstrong Co., to Hugh W. and Anna Peterman McCullough. Mrs. Fleming was a member of the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church, and the Shelocta Sportsman Club Auxiliary. In 1989, she was honored as Shelocta Citizen of the Year. Mrs. Fleming was employed for 25 years at IUP for ARA Food Services. During WW II she worked at Allegheny Ludlum in Leechburg. Bernice is survived by three sons and five daughters, James Fleming and wife Karen, Indiana; Wallace "Bud" Fleming and wife Linda, Indiana; Karen Redinger and husband Gary, Shelocta; Cheryl Thomas and husband Richard, Shelocta; Pamela Cavalier and husband Tom, Clarksburg; Terry "Legs" Fleming and wife Julie, Dayton; Susan Patterson and husband Edwin, Indiana; June Good and husband Keith, Kannapolis, NC; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence "Butch" McCullough, Shelocta; one brother-in-law, Harold Fleming, Dayton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Quay Fleming in 1999, two grandsons, six brothers and five sisters, John, Ken, Glenn, Lysle, Hugh Jr., and Roy McCullough, Belle Knepshield, Mildred McIntire, Rosaline Helman, Ruth Farmer, and Aleta McLaughlin. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M., at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held at Saturday at 2 P.M. with Rev. Matt Jones officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
