Bernard Prato's Obituary

Bernard Prato, age 80, of Homer City, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Shadyside UPMC Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in 1930 in Homer City, to John and Concetta Calabrese Prato. Mr. Prato was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church, Lucernemines; and the Redbarn Sportsman Club. A veteran of the Korean War he served in the US Navy as an Engineman 2nd Class. Bernard was employed by Westinghouse in Blairsville for 35 years. Bernard is survived by his wife of 54 years Alice Harvey Prato, Homer City; three sons and one daughter, John and wife Diane, Clarksburg; Anthony and wife Florence, Indiana; Gary and wife Jill, Indiana; Lisa Gardner and husband Terry, Lucernemines; 11 grandchildren, Brian Prato, Alburtis, PA; Thomas Prato and wife Kara, Winchester, VA; Jacob Prato, Crabtree; Catherine Tyger and husband James, Alburtis, PA; Jared Prato, Clarksburg; Adam Prato, Miamisburg, OH; Mallory Prato, Clarksburg; Josh Gelles, Lucernemines, Arianne Prato, Indiana; Holly Prato, Indiana; Ashley Gardner, Lucernemines; and one brother Arthur Prato and wife Helen, Homer City. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Wilbur Mitchell. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church, Lucernemines, with the Rev. Fr. Terry Herchick the Celebrant. Interment will be made in the Church cemetery.
