Barbara J. Lockhart's Obituary

Barbara J. Lockhart, age 79, of Smicksburg, died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born in 1931, in Indiana Co. to Jay and M. Evelyn Pitt Fulmer. Mrs. Lockhart was a member of the Gilgal Presbyterian Church, having served as an Elder and treasurer for several years. She loved traveling and eating out with her husband. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had also worked in the cafeteria at the Marion Center School for 20 years, where she enjoyed interacting and connecting with the students. The oldest of seven children, she was known to nurture and protect her siblings throughout her lifetime. Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years, William H. Lockhart, Smicksburg; three daughters and one son, B. Sharon Dawson and husband Stephen, Haymarket, VA; Deborah D. Haggerty and husband Andy, Indiana; Judith A. Hunter and husband Thomas, Pittsburgh; William H., II, and wife Norma, Smicksburg; 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Bryan, Randy, Kathryn, Kristyn, Nowell, Erin, Matthew, Martyn, and Michael; three great grandchildren, Ella, Brayden, and Jacob; one brother and four sisters, Sam Fulmer and wife Kathleen, Brookville; Vernice R. Wimble-Shope and husband John, Indiana; Leda B. Wallace and husband John, Vandergrift; M. Bonnie Kunkle and husband Fred, Marion Center; Carol Anne Stuchell and husband Neil, Cherry Tree; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother Joseph Fulmer and wife Margaret, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 3 to 6 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. Friends will also be received on Wednesday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Gilgal Presbyterian Church, where a funeral service will begin at 11 A.M. with Pastor Darla Revennaugh officiating. Interment will be made in the Gilgal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilgal Presbyteian Churh, Gilgal Rd. Marion Center, PA 15759, or to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 1011 Old Salem Rd., Greensburg, PA 15601.
