Obituary

Ann M. Spadafora, age 99, of Indiana passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at her home. One of nine children of Anthony and Mary Splendore, she was born in Mt. Pleasant, PA. She met her late husband Cecil on a blind date, married in 1940 and managed the Jolean children's store in Mt. Pleasant while her husband served in World War II. In 1946 the family moved to Indiana, PA where Cecil opened an automobile dealership and Ann focused on the needs of her children. She became very active in the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America. In her spare time she greatly enjoyed golf and bridge. She was a self-professed hit and giggle golfer, often seen armed with just a 5 iron, a pitching wedge, and a putter. Over her lifetime, she enthusiastically introduced more than a few ladies to the game of golf. She also loved to play bridge, had a great card sense and was a little daring just for fun. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, and five brothers. She is survived by her twin sister Josephine Tesaura, Denver, CO; brother Anthony Splendore, Washington, DC; and sister Marie Cardiello, Indiana. Ann is also survived by her four children, Chuck and wife Linda, Indiana; "WH" and wife Candice, Indiana; Jo-Una Spadafora, New York City; Cecil C., Jr., "Skip" and wife Mary Anne, Indiana; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The Spadafora family is most grateful to the two wonderful ong-term caregivers, Janet and Mary Ellen, and countless VNA practitioners who cared so lovingly for Ann during her last years. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3 to 8 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 A.M. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church, Indiana, with Msgr. Larry Kiniry Rev. Fr. William Kiel the con-celebrants. Entombment will be made in the St. Bernard Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary, c/o Kathy Rout, 403 Heritage Run Rd., Indiana, PA 15701; or to the Cecil Spaadafora Athletic Fund, c/o St. Bernard Learning Center, 300 Clairvaux Dr., Indiana, PA 15701.
