Obituary

Allen C. "Pap" Snyder, age 98, of Indiana, died Saturday January 7, 2012 In Indiana. He was born in 1913 in Indiana, to William G. and Daisy E. Adams Snyder. Mr. Snyder was a member of the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Indiana, and the United Rubber Workers. Pap was employed by McCreary Tire and Rubber Co. for 42 years as a tire builder, bead maker, patch maker, and worked in maintenance. A resident of Rayne Twp. since 1941, he was an avid Marion Center Little League and Youth Baseball enthusiast, and an honorary member of the FOP Softball Team. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He always faced life with his famous smile. Allen is survived by two sons and three daughters, Jacqueline Lockhart, Smicksburg; Rev. Douglas W. and wife Darlene, Indiana; Robert E. and wife Laurene, Indiana; Crystal A. Simpson and husband Robert, Indiana; Joyce Snyder, Pittsburgh; by his daughter-in-law Frances Snyder, Marion Center, 17 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren; and a close family friend Denny Hollern, McIntyre. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Verda Prugh Snyder in 2006, by his sons Richard R. in 2010 and Allen C., Jr. in 1947, and by two sisters Minnie Kostella and Mae Fredley. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 A.M. at the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Indiana, with the Rev. Mark Brown officiating. Interment will be made in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 1654 Old Rte. 119, Hwy N, Indiana, PA 15701.
