Alice (Johnstone) Mitchell, age 92 of Indiana, died Friday April 26, 2019 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

She was born in 1927 in Clymer to Robert M. and Margaret Abbott Johnstone.

Alice was raised in Clymer and graduated from Clymer High School in 1944.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Graystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Indiana, and was an active participant in the Women's Prayer Group. She was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Alice was a homemaker and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She was also a loyal friend to many. Alice loved spending time with family and friends, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. She valued her relationship with God, and she enjoyed sharing her faith with others.

She is survived by one son and one daughter - John "Mike" Mitchell and his wife Diana, Indiana; Lisa Hamme and husband Marc, Lebanon; one grandson - Michael Mitchell, Indiana; four granddaughters - Elissa Mitchell Carden and husband Thomas, Gibsonia; Brianna Mitchell, Indiana; Elisabeth Hamme, Lebanon; Sarah Hamme, Lebanon; one great grandson - Jack Mitchell Piccola, Indiana; three sisters - Margaret Wagener, Indiana; Roberta Morehead, Pulaski; and Carole Brooks, Marietta, GA; a special niece Debbie Ecker and family, Pendleton, IN.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 60 years, John M. Mitchell, Sr., in 2008, sisters Cleo Cupples, Carmen Nevland and Betty Super.

A memorial service for both John and Alice will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2019, at Greystone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Indiana, PA. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery. The Bowser-Minich Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
